This peaceful neighborhood park honors Oceanside native and 9/11 hero Detective Luis Alvarez, who served with the NYPD Bomb Squad and became a national advocate for first responders. Renamed in his memory, the space was thoughtfully designed to promote reflection and well-being — with benches, a flowing stream, and a clock engraved with the words “be present.” It’s a reminder of Lou’s courage, compassion, and lasting impact on our community.

From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Warriors proudly hang American flags throughout Oceanside to honor our country and those who serve it. It’s a summer tradition that brings a patriotic spirit to our streets and reminds us all of the values we share — pride, unity, and community.

Standing tall in the center of town, the Oceanside lighthouse is more than just a landmark — it’s a symbol of community pride. The Warriors take care of the lighthouse year-round, changing the flags and light colors to recognize important holidays, local events, and meaningful causes. Whether it’s lit up in pink for Breast Cancer Awareness or flying the Stars and Stripes on the Fourth of July, the lighthouse is our way of shining a light on what matters most to Oceanside.

At the entrances to Oceanside, you'll find small spots that make a big difference. Our Welcome Points are the first impression of our town — and we’re proud to keep them looking their best. Through cleanups, planting, and seasonal decor, we turn these spaces into bright, welcoming areas that reflect the spirit of our community. It’s our way of saying, “You’re in Oceanside — and we’re glad you’re here.”
