Brian Driscoll

Brian Driscoll is a lifelong public servant, dedicated father, and tireless advocate for the Oceanside community. A detective with the NYPD and co-founder of the Oceanside Community Warriors, Brian has become a local symbol of civic pride, volunteerism, and compassion.
In 2020, he was named Citizen of the Year by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce in recognition of his leadership, including organizing weekly cleanups, beautification projects, and inspiring a spirit of service among residents of all ages.
Brian’s heart for service extends well beyond Oceanside. He was introduced to NYPD With Arms Wide Open, an NYPD nonprofit, and is now involved with NYPD Rare Disease Day and Department Rare Disease seminars helping in spreading awareness and in supporting families of children with disabilities—a mission that’s deeply personal. His son, Liam, was born with ATR-X syndrome, a rare condition that prevents him from walking.
Inspired by Liam, Brian founded Liam’s Legacy Athletic Association, a nonprofit working to build an adaptive rubber-surface sports field where children of all abilities can experience the joy of play in a safe, inclusive space—with no tripping hazards and full wheelchair accessibility.
He also co-founded the Stop Drugs and Crime Facebook page, a community resource that raises awareness about substance use and connects people with rehabilitation services. Thanks to their efforts, more than a dozen individuals have accessed treatment—regardless of their ability to pay.
Whether he’s volunteering on a Sunday morning cleanup, advocating for accessible recreation, or quietly helping families in crisis, Brian leads with humility and heart—always putting community first.
